Bobby Choy (Big Phony) is a singer-songwriter who was born and raised in the United States, New York City. When he was 14, Bobby’s family moved to Los Angeles, leaving him in New York City for school to study at the New York High School of Performing Arts. This institution is renowned for graduates who have become world-renowned artists, such as Al Pacino, Adrian Brody, and Bela Fleck.

He spent most of his time creating his own works in writing at his apartment in New York. However, with great conviction and devotion to his religion, Big Phony decided to leave New York and travel to Boston to study nursing at a Christian college. It took a while for him to realize that religious studies were not the right path for him and returned to his passion for music. After completing his studies, he moved back to Los Angeles to be closer to his family.

In Los Angeles, Big Phony started searching for his path as a singer and songwriter. He quickly built a fan base with his music and performances. In the early 2000s, he returned to New York City to create music and build a fan base similar to that in Los Angeles. That made him frequently travel between the two cities and rely on friends or acquaintances for temporary accommodation.

In 2011, Big Phony visited South Korea for the first time, his parents’ country of birth. He immediately felt a deep connection to the country and decided to explore the meaning and emotions he had towards his parents’ homeland.

He mentioned that music was his second priority, following his desire to connect with the land of his parents. He decided to improve his life from thereon. Since then, Big Phony has integrated with his parents, people, and the Korean culture he admired. Through hard work and determination, he became known in the Korean music industry. He performed at various places and appeared on Korean TV and radio shows, totaling more than 50 performances in South Korea.

In 2016, Big Phony signed a contract with the Korean indie label Electric Muse and was in the process of negotiating a stock partnership with Roxtamuzik & Live.

Big Phony has overcome obstacles to reach this achievement. He is a highly respected and supported artist in the Korean music industry.
